Review of our tour and accommodation at Hotel La Plage: Continuing the information written in the post about our Tour and accommodation for 12 days along the Costa Azul and Costa Verde do RJ, our second stop on this adventure was in Cabo Frio, where we stayed at Hotel La Plage.
The choice of location was as usual, we searched on several sites reading comments, reviews and photos to find a place that was quiet to rest and at the same time close to beaches and tourist attractions and during our search, we found the Hotel La Plage.
The evaluations and comments about the place varied a lot, some loved the place and others simply hated it, but as we didn’t have much time to choose and our money was limited, we decided to take a risk to see what this adventure would turn out to be.
About staying at Hotel La Plage
We made a reservation for 1 Standard Room with a double bed, overlooking the courtyard, with breakfast included for two people from February 2, 2023 to February 4, 2023 and we paid a total of R$ 532.02 (five hundred and thirty-two reais and two cents – Approximately 106.4 US dollars) through the HOTEIS.COM website – CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT.
When we arrived at the hotel, we found a large and rustic-looking place, the facade of the hotel is brown and they didn’t seem to care much about making the place brighter and more attractive from the outside.
We checked in and were taken to the room and along the way through the dark corridors and stairs, I could already see a little bit of why there were so many negative reviews on the sites we researched.
When we got to the room, we found a dark place, with an old mini decoration, a strong smell of chemicals mixed with mold, a partially broken wooden window that didn’t close properly, grimy towels and cloths with a dirty and old look, cracks in the fur. ceiling, fan that didn’t ventilate, walls with a kind of texture that accumulated dust dark and old floor. In the end, everything is very old and neglected. This was definitely the worst room we’ve ever stayed in (Until today).
There was no internet in the room and the only things that seemed to have been changed a short time ago were the television and the air conditioning.
As soon as we entered the room, we wanted to leave, ask for a refund and look for another place to stay, but as I said earlier, we didn’t have time or much money to choose too much, so we settled in as best we could. and we went to the beach.
The back of the hotel with a small swimming pool, a bar and a garden is unlike anything we saw in the room. Although the decoration continued with the brown and cold color, the garden and the exit to the beach left the landscape very beautiful and made us think how beautiful and cozy this hotel must have been when it opened.
The location is great, the direct exit to the beach where we can find several kiosks and the clean sea with clear waters is a differential that we cannot fail to mention.

Peró beach and Praia das Conchas in Cabo Frio – RJ
The entire neighborhood of Peró is very well maintained, with clean streets and small gardens on the sidewalks. Praia do Peró, where the hotel is located, is very beautiful, although the strong waves make swimming a little difficult. In addition, we can still walk to Praia das Conchas where the sea is calmer and the landscape is also very beautiful.
The local trade, although small, is quite diversified with a pharmacy, grocery store, bakery and so on. We also went to the peró mall where there are several bars, pizzerias and restaurants and on weekends there are usually live music shows to liven up the night.

We spent two wonderful days in the place and the only thing that let us down was having to go back to the hotel room and try to sleep in that disappointing accommodation.
